READING TIME WITH SHELTER CATS 🐾

Through our Kids to Kitties Reading Program, children (ages 6–15) spend time reading to our shelter cats in a cozy, quiet environment. It’s a fun way for kids to build reading skills and confidence — while comforting our feline residents!

Kids can pick a book (including Maddy & Jasmine by local advocate Sherry Dunn) and read to cats in any of our four cat rooms. Readers wear special green vests and can grab a blanket or pillow to get extra comfy!

This program helps both kids and cats:
✔ Builds literacy & confidence
✔ Reduces stress for shelter cats
✔ Helps shy or skittish kitties open up
✔ Encourages empathy & care in young readers

📅 We host this program every Saturday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Limited to 4 children (plus guardians) per session.
